RE: Electrical problem?

There are two banks of light switches, of which each bank has two switches, so four total switches. There was a jumper power wire that was off (but touching sometimes) that led from the livingroom-kitches/yellow-outdoor light switch to the bedroom/white-outdoor light switch. That jumper wire obviously powers the outdoor light and obviously that feeds power to those other three lights. I took the wire and recrimped the crimp with a pliers, then wrapped electrical tape around it. Glad I didn't have to haul it back home just for that, at least it would've been warranty, but just the gas and the pain in the arse to take down and set back up . I had the appointment scheduled, glad I could cancel that. He asked me what was wrong and we chatted for a bit. He said he'd be more than happy to do warranty work on my TT if I ever need it in the future. Thanks for all the input guys! Jeremy

RE: Electrical problem?

First check all GFI plugs in the TT to make sure they are not tripped. If they are ok then go to the first light not working from the breaker box (closest to the BB) remove the light from the ceiling and check the wire connections. I think you will find a bad connection there, you want to make sure you check both wires white and black. Don Do you mean the little push button deals where you plug stuff into? That would cause lights to fail? Even if they are on the opposite side (front to back) of the trailer? Sorry, I'm electrically dumb!

RE: Electrical problem?

The light flickered twice. I was the only one in the trailer at the time. I didn't get time to look at the bulb that I think was the problem as it was pouring they day it happened. I did flip the only GFI button I saw in the power supply box. Is it common practice to wire in series or was it a mistake if that is the case? I would think that would be REALLY dumb, but does it save them money doing it that way? I contacted the dealer and the manufacturer. The dealer couldn't help me over the phone and the manufacturer hasn't responded yet. It's under warranty so I called a local Palomino dealer to schedule it to be brought in and checked. I'll do some troubleshooting (somehow) to see if it's a light issue (or anything else you guys can think of). My dealer is 600 miles away so I'm not going to take it there. This dealer was more than happy to take my camper for warranty work. I think I got lucky though as this dealer is a "startup", in the sense he split from another dealer here so maybe he's hungry for work? Thanks for the suggestions and any more to come.

Electrical problem?

I have a 2008 Puma 28BHS. I need to know if this issue is something I can fix or solve myself as I don't want to take my trailer from the seasonal spot if I don't have to. The front light by the propane tanks, the light inside the front pass through, the large round light near the front but on the side of the trailer and the light underneath the bedroom cabinets stopped working. I turned on the outside light and it flashed a couple times, then went out completely. When that happened, the other lights stopped working. The other lights in the bedroom all work, it's just the four lights I listed above. I checked all the fuses in the power supply and they were all fine. Is there anywhere else I can check for a fuse or shut off that could tripped or? Also, there was some water near the water pump and water heater area. The connection leaving the water pump was loose so I tightened that up and there is no more water leaking. Could that have contributed to anything at all? I've contacted Palomino as well, but thought some of you may have ran into this problem as well before.

RE: anyone else's weekend plans washed out?

It was windy and rainy the whole weekend. Temps were OK, but the wind and rain ruined that, no fishing and not much outdoor stuff. Kinda sucked for the first time out in our first and new TT. Monday we woke up, went outside and it was 40 degrees. It didn't hit 50 until about 2:30-3:00. Bleh... On the good side, all went well with the TT, no issues at all! Leaving at a seasonal for 2 months. August we normally go to a few different places so it wouldn't pay to pay for August. I love having elec/water/sewer, it makes everything so much easier, especially with two daugthers (2 and 4) going potty every 15 minutes, washing hands, rinse, repeat.

RE: Silverado 2500 Towing Capacity

Well i hope you rethink it becouse i had a 2002 4/4 xcab long box 2500hd chev. I loved to camp my trailer was 25 foot and weight loaded around 6000 to 6500lbs and the poor 6.0 would be to the floor to pull the hills.Just underpowerd and fuel mpg was scary......Im sure ya hear this all the time ...but mine had the 4.10 gears and just sucked when i would hit the hills...So i went to the dark side cummins.......now i sometimes go to fast up hills. That surprises me. I have a 2004 2500HD extended cab short box 4:10 gears. I pull a Dutchman 31N-DSL (35.8 feet). It is a pretty good size TT. Up here in Northern PA it is all hills and that 400 in tow mode does awesome. As a matter of fact going up hill on a 4 lane I normally pass my friends that use a 2001 Excursion (V10) with their 28 foot sprinter on the back. I just set the cruise and let the truck handle the rest! that really surprises me, i pull a 6000lb DRY puma 28bhs (28' box) and it pulls really well, i never had to have my foot to the floor, sure it shifted down to 2nd a couple times, but it did that to maintain 60mph and i have a 4.8L silverado half ton i know for a fact that my uncles both used to pull with the 6.0, 32-24ft fivers and they were very happy with the performance... the one did get a diesel but he wanted that more for fuel mileage more than anything the 6.0 is a STRONG motor

RE: Tonneau Cover Impact on MPG

Had a 2004 1500 Dodge with a fiberglass cover put on it. Got about 1.5 MPG increase, but added around 450/500 LBS. Just got a 2006 F250 Diesel and this time added a roll up "Truxedo" Haven't had a chance to go on a long trip yet to get a feel for increase or decrease. We did go from 7.2 MPG on the Dodge to around 14.3 on the F250. Of course fuel is a lot more for the F 250. Back to the subject the roll up lets us carry anything at all, the F-glass was restrictive since you had to prop it open while carrying tall objects. If you have a lockable tailgate the truxedo will slow someone down trying to get into it as you have to have the tailgate open in order to roll it up. or stuff a knife through the vinyl!

RE: Tonneau Cover Impact on MPG

I like the Access covers, never had a problem with them, they claim: Will my gas mileage increase with a cover? With the cover in the closed position, your pickups aerodynamics are improved, which results in increased mileage. According to some studies, gas mileage can increase as much as 10%. Taken from: http://www.agricover.com/index.php/faq/item/will_my_gas_mileage_increase_with_a_cover/

RE: Tonneau Cover Impact on MPG

Read this over and over and think about the cost of fuel in 2000 (when this study was done). The summary fuel calculations of Table 3 show that the average increase in fuel usage over the life of a pickup truck, here assumed as 100,000 freeway miles, is about 0.5(73+172)=122.5 gallons which has a current value of about $184.00.

RE: MAY 2 BLIZZARD

So, how do you folks like Global Warming so far? Bob Yeah, no kidding. This is one of the coldest/snowiest Aprils and springs on record for our area. I would've like to see Al Gore come up here when we got the 18" of snow last week and tell us that global warming is upon us. This has also been one of the coldest winters on record for our area, wow, it's amazing! :)

RE: MAY 2 BLIZZARD

Our area had 18" of snow last weekend, after a decent run of nice weather. I suppose I'll be able to take out the camper around August, and put it away around August.

RE: Just finished first tow...need input

yes, if you are looking from no TV to getting a TV, yes, by all means get the 5.3, but to trade up, that isn't worth it and you'll be wasting your money... the change from the 3.23 to the 3.73 or 4.10 will make things MUCH better... on paper (numbers) it looks like a small change, but that is a HUGE change.

RE: Just finished first tow...need input

The 4.8L and the 3.23 gear is what is hurting you. for that loaded TT you need a minimum of a 5.3 and a 3.73 or 4.10 gear! He does NOT need the 5.3, he needs the 3.73 or 4.10 gears. The difference in HP and to a degree, torque, in the 4.8 to the 5.3 isn't enough to warrant trading up nor is there a significant towing advantage. I tow a heavier TT with my 4.8L but I have 3.73 gears. There is much more significance in towing performance in the 3.23 versus the 3.73.

RE: Woo Hoo!! Ordered new 2008 TT today!!

Three hours? Wow... that's a long time....Really??? Do ya think so??? I didn't think it was too long when you consider that we had to: Arrive and get introduced to our saleman, the famous Jason. :BGet led to our new unit and have the walk through.go to the business office area and do all that fun stuff. (no surprises.) :)Transfer all our "stuff" from our old Pioneer to the new PumaTransfer my hitch from the Pioneer to the PumaGo to their parts department and leisurely spend the $200.00 I won on their recent online daily contest. :BSay goodbye to all the helpful staff we dealt with. I did all of that minus transferring the "stuff" in 1 hour. Doesn't really matter though, sounds like the experience was worth it. :)

RE: What movies are on your "must have" for camping?

Veggietales and the Wiggles for my DD We do too, instead of going out to a movie we'll wait for the DVD to come out and own it for cheaper than 2 tickets would cost to see it "at the movies" Yeah, we have the veggies and wiggles, along with Max and Ruby and Wubbzy. I personally like Max and Ruby for them since it teaches them basic manners and how tos. And, definitely on the movie thing, they are way to expensive at the theater for a one-time show. And the pop/popcorn, I mean, wow! I have a large flat screen at home with surround sound so we turn out the lights and sit in comfort in our own home rather than having some snot nosed kids jumping around and kicking your seats. (Yes, I use to be one of those kids I'm sure!)

RE: Stupd Mistake - Cut Electrical Cable

That sounds like the one they are referring to. Was it cut near where it would plug into an outlet or closer to the hole that goes into the TT? If closer to the outlet, cut it off and put on a new end.

RE: What movies are on your "must have" for camping?

With my two little girls being along, any Disney movie. If they are not, any Die Hard, Lethal Weapon type show or some good ol' Star Wars or may LOTR or.... the list goes on and on, I have HUNDREDS of DVDs to choose from, only a couple will ever get watched on a week'ish trip, like when it rains or it's too windy to go fishing/etc...
